The problem with “Then and now” photos — and “Where are they now?” programs — is that unless they are presented on-air, live, and without a delay, they are extremely inaccurate, or at least highly improbable.
That is why I am now — or was, when I wrote this — suggesting that all “Then and now” photos be forthwith referred to as “Then and sometime after” photos.
And all “Where are they now?” programs be called “Where they were when we recorded this”.
Because although the time is always now, by the time you read this, it is no longer the same now that I wrote it in.
Much like you cannot step into the same river twice, you cannot experience the same now more than once.
